Mr Michael Cooney

Michael has worked with people affected by cancer, as well as those whose professional role it is to care for them, as a clinician, educator, manager and leader for more than 30 years. His experience spans working within inpatient and outpatient settings in both public and private health care systems. He is an endorsed Cancer Nurse Practitioner and also holds additional Masters qualifications in leadership.

Michael’s current role is as the Oncology/Haematology Nurse Practitioner at The Northern Hospital in Epping, Victoria. Michael’s role, officially and unofficially includes providing direct advanced clinical nursing care, care coordination, patient advocacy, treatment monitoring, patient education and coaching, counselling, medical education and training and input into strategic service development.

 

He has a long history of association with the CNSA as a member, past Regional Group Chair and one of the founding members and again current member of the committee of the CNSA Cancer Nurse Practitioners SPN.
